The last place Royals SMASHED the Cards 2 out of 3 in KC! The Angels pummel the Cards 2 out of 3! The A's crush the us in game 1. There is definitely a bad trend. We have no pitching whatsoever!!! Let Kip GO!!! Put him out of his misery...

Congrats to Tony LaRussa for winning 1000 games as a Cards skipper. He is a top notch manager. Kudos to Tony. We are finally scoring runs but we are also giving up 2 runs per game than or more than we are scoring!!! We are heading towards a disastrous season if we are not careful. So sad after winning a World Championsip...

The bats are finally swinging the right wayfor the Cards. Pujols, Edmonds, Eckstein and even Rolen have started getting some hits. I just hope that it isn't too late. Thank goodness we are in the NL Central...

The Cards have had a bad West Coast Road Trip that has continued to Detroit. They just got crushed 14-4. They have at least scored some runs against the Dodgers but Albert hit only the second homer of the month for the Cards. A power outage to say the least... The starting pitching has also been poor. Ouch!!!

Carpenter is out for at least 3 months. The bats are as silent as a library. And the pitching staff is giving out walks like there is no tomorrow. Are we in for a Long Season ? Don't give up and never say never...

Cards score a ton on Sunday but not much any time else. The offense needs to pick it up. The pitching has been ok without Carpenter. Carp gets re-evaluated this week. Reds and Cubs come to town this week...

The Cards Ws = Wells and Wainright have been pitching great! They are a big reason the Cards are back on the winning track. But Carpenter has been put on the shelf for 15 days. Will it be enough ? Or will there be continuing problems ? Stay tuned Cards fans as these questions will be answered as the season unfolds...

The Cards and Carpenter were flat on Opening Day 2007. The pre-game ceremonies were spectacular as usual. And a lot of fun to boot. The Cards were out played in all facets of the game by the Mets. I interspersed live outtakes from the ceremonies and the game. I am making this an annual event. I hope you enjoy the podcast since it has a different flavor to it. Go Cards 2007 !!!

I chat about the Cards Opening Day starting 5. A surprise for sure in Looper. But he earned it. Mulder is expected back by July and then things should change again. But the rotation is decent for now and Dave Duncan has the ability to work magic with his pitchers. So I am not too worried about the pitching for now. More team cuts have been made and the final 25 is getting closer...

A look at the outfield for 2007. It looks similar to the end of last year. We will probably start off the year with Edmonds and Encarnacion on the DL. So, this may give a young buck the opportunity to stay with the club for a couple of weeks. over all a decent outfield but nor a dominating one.

A hodge podge catch up of injury updates on the pitching staff and other Cards players. This is more an awareness thing. No need to panic... yet. Also, the Cards have been playing well this Spring.

The Cards bullpen this year should be better than last year. And it is probably a good thing considering we do not have a solid starting 5. The relief corps stood out in the playoffs and World Series last year and I feel that will help out. Also Looper will end up in the bullpen and if Izzy isn't ready then Wainright will be the main closer. So... the bullpen will be better than last year. This is a good thing...

How does the bench look this year? It looks a lot like last year. There will be a couple of diiferences but basically the same. There is one intriguing player by the name of Jolbert Cabrera. He is not young but he has some decent skills. Time will tell. The bench looks good and it has some pop. Tony will use his bench well and everyone will play. Duncan will get quite a bit of playing time and will provide some needed pop. He will mature into a decent player. The Cards bench will be a strength...

The infield for the Cards is one of the strong points for the World champs this year. With the addition of Adam Kennedy at 2B it solidifies a position that for the Cards has been shaky. It also teams up Eckstein and Kennedy again as a keystone combo. The outside infielders are obviously solid - Rolen and Pujols ROCK!!! The infield will not be the problem this year...

The BIG question is for the Cards is who will be the #'s 4 and 5 pitchers? Adam Wainright, Ryan Franklin, Brad Thompson or Braden Looper are possibilities. Or will they sign a veteran in spring training? Maybe a trade is in the works. Obviously this is the major concern that will be closely watched as the season gets underway. Lots of questions to consider in this area to say the least...

The General Managers have just finished their Winter Meetings and the Cards did not sign any big names again. But at least they did not join in the ridiculous spending frenzy that has been going on this winter. They have signed Russ Springer and are still interested in Suppan, Weaver and Mulder. Go World Champs!!!

The Cards have signed Free Agents 2B Adam Kennedy and P Kip Wells. These are good signings that are typical of Mr. Jockety. These are 2 economical signings that will fit right into Cardinal Nation.
